As the field of ABA evolves, the need for improvement in various aspects of ABA as a practice increases. This review aimed to determine if implementing the Holistic ABA Model Of Care (HAMOC), improves the outcomes of ABA in clinical settings, for individuals with autism of considerable cognitive strength.
It’s July 11, 2023, 1:47 AM. I am writing this 2 hours and 47 minutes into our official launch date. I should be sleeping, yet here I am, writing the first blog post for my very own ABA practice!
Come what may, the seven core values of ABA remain. We bring you the tried and true system with a sprinkling of new innovations that only add to the value.
Assessment
Constantly evaluating, reevaluating, and re-reevaluating is our secret to success. Not afraid to change, we update target behaviors when applicable, monitor the success of a treatment plan, and implement changes whenever necessary. As part of our process, assessment is set into our system at specific intervals.
ACT and Greg Hanley’s Method
Regency ABA takes advantage of the newest discoveries, while sticking to the success of the ABA umbrella.
Traditionally, only observable actions were considered in therapy, and emotions and thoughts were considered private events of the client. With the advent of the relational frame theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy allows emotions to be examined within the framework of ABA principles.
We also integrate Greg Hanley’s method, commonly known as Today’s ABA, which focuses on keeping the client happy, relaxed, and engaged throughout the session.
Resources for BCBA’s
When it comes to resources for therapists, they name it, we have it. We believe every therapist should access the videos, materials, scenarios, examples, schedules, and any other resource that enhances their level of care.
ABA Based Training Strategies for BCBA’s
In the ever-evolving field of ABA, researchers and practitioners are constantly coming out with new research and new practices. The training BCBAs go through in their college years, may or may not (more likely) be sufficient. Staying ahead of our game, we provide every BCBA on staff with Organizational Behavior Management and Behavior Skills Training. Consequently, the term BCBA at our agency connotes more than your average BCBA.
Self Management
Research shows that when we commit to doing something, there’s a greater likelihood that we’ll actually get it done. With guidance from the BCBA and ABA therapist, the client themself is involved in the choosing of his treatment plans, thereby increasing his chance for success. Throughout therapy, the therapist sustains an aura of assent, where the client is compliant and interested in the session. The client also learns assertion and self advocacy, for the occasions where these behaviors are appropriate. Our therapists weave all these and other self management skills into their regular therapy sessions.
