What We Do
Supporting You Through The ASD Evaluation Process
For many families, the first step toward support begins with questions. If you are noticing signs of autism or have been referred for further evaluation, understanding how Autism Screening, Autism Testing, and ASD Evaluations work can feel overwhelming. Regency ABA Therapy does not perform diagnostic testing, but we guide families through the process by connecting you with trusted providers so you can move forward with clarity and confidence.
Once your child’s Autism Assessment is complete and verified, we help you transition quickly into ABA Therapy Services without unnecessary delays.
What Is Autism Screening & Testing?
Autism Screening is the initial step used to identify whether a child may be at risk for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Screening tools are typically quick, parent-completed questionnaires that highlight early developmental concerns.
Autism Testing, also referred to as an Autism Assessment or ASD Evaluation, is a more comprehensive process conducted by licensed professionals. This evaluation includes direct observation, developmental history, and standardized tools to determine whether a child meets diagnostic criteria for ASD.
A formal diagnosis is often required before starting ABA Therapy and accessing insurance coverage.
Why an Autism Diagnosis Matters
A confirmed autism diagnosis is not just a label. It opens the door to critical services and support, including:
Early identification allows children to begin therapy sooner, which can significantly improve long-term outcomes.
How to Get Started with an ASD Evaluation?
If you are wondering how to begin Autism Screening or Autism Testing, the process typically starts with a simple screening tool to identify potential signs of autism. If results indicate a need for further evaluation, a full Autism Assessment, such as the ADOS-2, is completed by a qualified provider. While we do not perform testing directly, we guide families to trusted ASD Evaluation providers and help you move quickly from diagnosis to starting ABA Therapy services without unnecessary delays.
The M-CHAT-R
The M-CHAT-R is one of the most widely used Autism Screening tools for young children between 16 and 30 months. It consists of a short parent questionnaire that evaluates early communication, social interaction, and play behaviors.
A high-risk result does not diagnose autism but indicates that a child may benefit from a full Autism Assessment.

The ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition)
The ADOS-2 is considered the gold standard for Autism Testing and is widely used by clinicians to assess ASD. This structured, play-based Autism Assessment allows professionals to observe communication, social interaction, behavior patterns, and emotional responses in a controlled setting.
During the evaluation, children participate in activities tailored to their developmental level while clinicians gather detailed data to support the diagnostic process.
It is important to understand that the ADOS-2 is one part of a comprehensive ASD Evaluation. Final diagnosis is made by a qualified medical or psychological professional.
